Surface and Pond water treatment

QM Environmental Services Nederland offers various solutions for the treatment of surface and pond waters. We focus on removing contaminants, preventing algae growth and removing sludge layers that have formed over time.

Surface waters are affected by the influx of pollutants via discharges, sewage overflow, from the ground or from the air. Sewage overflows have been reduced over the past few years, so that diffuse sources are currently the main component of the influx of pollutants into surface water.

These diffuse sources can be fertilizers from agriculture, faeces from waterfowl living in a certain area, but also illegal discharges from drug laboratories and industry. The effect of these discharges on an aquatic system such as a pond or lake can be disastrous. For example, the influx of fertilizers or faeces from birds can lead to the development of blue algae in hot weather conditions. Illegal discharges of chemicals have a deadly effect on fish and other animal aquatic life in the affected area because these substances can be poisonous but can also consume the oxygen present in the water so that the animals can literally suffocate.

QM Environmental Services Nederland provides a package of biological and mineral solutions that remove nutrients from the surface water and biodegrade organic pollutants and sludge layers. As a result the nutrients that algae use from the surface water are removed so that they can no longer develop and the water clarifies. Subsequently sludge layers on the bottom are reduced so that less traditional dredging is needed.

bioformula for microalgae control. MicroCat-AL3 is a mixture of selected, adapted micro-organisms to prevent algae growth in surface waters. It can be used in garden ponds, park ponds, lakes, facultative ponds used to collect purified domestic waste water, in water basins in greenhouses and other slow-flowing waterways.

Where thread algae are the problem, MICROCAT-ALN is a specially developed bioformula for the prevention of thread algae growth.

MicroCat-ALF Fish bioformula is a synergistic mix of selected, naturally occurring, non-pathogenic beneficial microorganisms for use in improving and maintaining water quality in fish farms.

MicroCat-ALF is available in various forms that are suitable for a wide range of water quality and aquaculture applications.

MicroCat-ALSH is a synergistic mix of selected, naturally occurring, non-pathogenic beneficial microorganisms for use in improving and maintaining water quality, especially in shrimp farms.

MicroCat-XRT is a special mix of selected, adapted micro-organisms for breaking down oil films and floating layers that are created as a result of illegal discharges or originate from leaking ship engines.

MicroCat-XRT contains a combination of aerobic and facultative anaerobic micro-organisms selected from nature for their ability to degrade a wide range of natural and synthetic organic compounds in combination with additional nutrients to stimulate biodegradation.

QM-Biodredge is a combination of naturally occurring aerobic and facultative anaerobic bacteria in combination with mineral carriers. The microorganisms in the QM-Biodredge have been selected for their ability to absorb nutrients dissolved in the water and to break down organic matter. The micro-organisms are harmless to humans and animals. The combination of the micro-organisms and the mineral carriers descends through the water to the water bottom, while absorbing nutrients that the bacteria can use. Once they have arrived at the bottom, the microorganisms start to break down organic sludge material that has accumulated on the bottom of the waterbody over time. The removal of the nutrients from the water phase clarifies the water because microalgae no longer have any nutrients and therefore can no longer develop. As a result, sunlight can penetrate further into the water so that water plants can develop again and produce oxygen. The increase in the oxygen content in the water stimulates the micro-organisms of QM-Biodredge and these will break down the organic sludge material more quickly.

QM-Biodredge is available in various grain sizes, from very fine powder to granules of 3 to 5 mm.
